CAVITY WALL TIES

Horizontal cracks can indicate cavity wall tie failure - our experienced team can advise.

WALL TIE REPAIRS BY A SPECIALIST TEAM

The introduction of cavity walls in the early 20th century provided insulation and protection against water ingress.  The inner and outer leaves of the walls are ‘tied’ together by wall ties (iron straps) and over the years the ‘ties’ can corrode, causing horizontal cracking, visible on the external wall.

Using endoscopic camera equipment, our surveyor will examine the condition of the existing ties and identify the type of wall tie used in the construction.  If the ties have corroded affecting the stability of the walls, we will provide you with a replacement specification using modern stainless steel tie bars. It may be possible for the original ties to be isolated in situ, rather than removed and we will advise you accordingly.

WALL TIE REPLACEMENT AND STRUCTURAL REPAIRS

Endoscopic camera inspection of cavity wall ties and identification of type use

Diagnose the cause of the problem and specify the correct remedial action

We have years of experience, working with Structural Engineers and Building Surveyors

We are familiar with the types of houses, throughout Yorkshire, that are susceptible to wall tie failure and structural problems.

REMEDIAL STRUCTURAL REPAIRS

There are numerous causes of movement in buildings, from subsidence to inadequate wall restraints and a Structural Engineer will specify the type of repair necessary.  This could take the form of structural strapping and stitching or installations of ties and restraints.

Working in conjunction with the Structural Engineer, our surveyor will prepare a quotation and our experienced operatives will carry out the recommendations made by the Structural Consultant.

We work in close collaboration with Structural Engineers and Building Surveyors and have longstanding associations with our partners in the remedial repairs industry, having worked on many prestigious buildings to preserve and maintain their structure.
